for years i am using a free software called AVAST.. it stops connection right away if a virus is detected.. i tried different AV before like AVG and NORTON but still encountered problems like undetected virus and slowing down of my system.. if you have plenty of money then you might want to purchase the professional version of AVAST that offers extra protection for your PC..

The best way to avoid getting viruses would be to not go on stupid websites and download files and run files that you have no idea what they are. In my experience, if you need an antivirus program then you're doing something wrong.

best antivirus as they say is ubuntu :P ******* awsome is what it is
the best of the best is commodo, but also the moste annying one to use, yes its a real ***** but trust me, you will never ever get virus
other then that nod32 if you got alot of power under that case that you dont use
if you want something thats good and run nicely in the background without eating all your ram and cpu then go for AVG and avast!
yeah you can have more then one :P never had any problem with any of them
if you pay for antivirus you been fooled, never pay for something thats not as good as free programs
oh and ubuntu is free! :D

ESET NOD32 is a completely different antivirus software from norton, and far better IMO, NOD32 is arguably the lightest and most effective antivirus out there and my vote goes to NOD32.
