Yes of course. The license refers to how many different computers can run the software at the same time. It does not mean how many different times you can install it. You can install it a billion times. But you can only have it running on the number of computers of licenses you have. If you have one license, then one computer; 3 licenses, then 3 computers.

Let's say, for example, that you have a one-license version. You've activated it on a laptop that is now dead and gone. Microsoft's servers still show the activation on the old laptop obviously. So what you'd have to do is contact them and ask them to close the activation registration on the old one and allow you to shift it to the new one. This is done all the time and is not a hassle. Here is the contact info for Microsoft. Just click Microsoft Support, then Technical Support

http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/

So install it on the new laptop, when you get to the activation stage if it errors out that means you have a one-license version (if you have Home and Student version then you have 3 licenses). Then use the above contact link to clear it up.
