When I first installed NFS: Carbon, it didn't work...I looked it up, found the 1.4 patch, installed that, and it worked without any more problems. But now, about 4 days later, it keeps crashing in the middle of races! I renamed the movies folder also, but that didn't help.
Here's how far I get every time: Start the game, adjust the quality settings, start a race in career mode, race starts fine...but about 1-2 minutes into the race, it just quits for no reason. I've just started having this problem today...Can someone help please? It's a major disappointment for me, because I've been wanting to have this game for a long time, but never had a good enough computer...and now that I have one, it's not working! Somone help!?

According to EA's Website Support page,[49] they have not released any games that are supported under Windows Vista and suggest changing the compatibility mode to play EA games if necessary.

In versions prior to 1.4, the game will load with both 32 bit and 64 bit editions of Windows Vista if the compatibility mode is changed to either Windows 98 or 95. However, the game still crashes frequently. Deleting or renaming the MOVIES folder, however, alleviates the problem. This has also been linked to the 1.3 upgrade patch. Some users have also successfully run the game out of the box on Vista 32-Bit RTM, suggesting that the issue may have been related to issues in Vista's pre-release code.

In version 1.4 of the game these conflicts with Windows Vista are solved, according to EA.[50]

Removing the directory is quite simple really. Just follow these simple instructions. Read all the instructions to ensure you understand them before you execute them. BTW. The only issue I found with using god mode in Vista 64 is that it crashed Windows Explore. Any attempt to restart Explore caused it to crash. Now this happened to me when I created the god mode folder in the root folder of my hard drive; i.e. C:\god mode folder. I've read posts where having the god mode folder created on your desktop caused Windows to crash. I can not confirm this nor will I attempt to do so. However, I'm sure booting Vista 64 into safe mode would allow the removal of the god mode folder from the desktop. - Load the Command Prompt; aka DOS Prompt - Click the command prompt icon on the task bar or click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt - The following assumes you've created this new folder in the root folder of the hard drive; i.e. C:\> - Type CD\ and press enter - Type rd GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-9971204... and press enter - Press Y at the do you want to delete this folder prompt - Spaces count so be sure you include them in the above commands. Be sure you know what folder your in and the god mode folder is in that folder. For example, at the C:\> prompt type dir *. and press enter. You should see the god mode folder and some other folders. Note that using *. after the dir command will not display any file names only folder names. To make this easier, rather than having to type out the god mode folder name in the above command, while in Windows copy the god mode folder name; from a web site or maybe you have the name on your system somewhere. Now while at the Command Prompt type the rd command followed by a space, then right click on the Command Prompts Title Bar and click Edit > Paste. This will paste the long god mode folder name into the Command Prompt window for your and you'll not have to type it.

Vista 64 crashes more than a drunken driver...we used to have it at work but its really troublesome and only ran a few programs successfully..no surprise people are downgrading back to XP. You could make a dual boot system using XP to run this game without problems.

This is one of the major reasons I hate vista.... 90% of games dont work properly on it.... Better get a Windows XP CD and install it on the PC.... Other wise I donno
