I have a usb mouse i would love to use, unfortunatly, my hidusb.sys file is missing inexplicably, obviously my mouse won't work without it. Does anyone know where i could get the file for free? i have winXp disks, btw, thats my os as well, but i want to know how to do it before i start digging around in those... can anyone help me?

Here is the "hard way"

Search your windows xp setup disk for the file: "hidusb.sy_" (note the underscore instead of an "s")

This is the compressed version of the file. You need to extract this file into "\WINDOWS\system32\drivers"

FYI, the files ending with an underscore are usually compressed files. I suggest that you open the file with winrar (right click > open with > winrar). Winrar can extract the file from the compressed file. You can also use the windows "expand" command although i think its a little complicated for you to use.

Start, Run

sfc /scannow

will check and fix your system files. It might ask you where to find the original files, which are usually in an i386 folder or on the CD.

piratebay.com a torrent downloader, it tells you how to use it.
