I'm doing a project that needs to be in the same document so i can e-mail this to my tutor as 1 document. I am doing a project with an appendix and need to use roman numerals for my appendices which will come at the end of the project. How can i have roman numerals on the appendices without it switching the normal numbers too?
Thanks

Do this:

1. At the top of the first page you want with Roman numerals, click the Page Layout->Page Setup->Breaks icon.

2. Insert a Next Page type section break.

3. Click the Insert->Page Numbers->Format Page Numbers menu item.

4. In the Page Numbers dialog box, select Roman numerals in the number format list box.

5. If you don’t want the page numbers to be continuous between the two sections, set Page Numbering to start at number one. The radio button should switch to Start At.

6. Click OK.

7. Go back to the first page of the document (now in the first section).

8. Repeat steps 3-4, but this time set the Number format to Arabic numerals.

9. Repeat steps 5-6. (Note: The actual insertion of page numbers in the page header or footer doesn't have to happen. Only the formatting selection is necessary. To avoid the insertion, click the Cancel button instead of the OK in Step 6))

That should do it.

You need to have your appendix as a separate section and then you can have different header and footer for that section. Just switch to the Insert menu on the ribbon, click on the downward arrow to the side of the break icon and choose section break. Make sure though your cursor is at the position where you want the section to start.

you could insert a next internet site section wreck on the backside of the final internet site with Roman numerals. internet site format tab, internet site Setup group- click on breaks icon. on the Insert tab, Header & Footer group, click on the internet site type icon and format the numbers to the two Roman or Arabic numbers. contained in the Header & Footer equipment tab, ideas group, click on different First internet site. contained in the 2nd section with the Arabic numbers, click in the two the header of footer the place you have internet site numbers and on the Header & Footer equipment tab, Navigation group, click the "hyperlink to previous" icon to break the hyperlink to the 1st section. Now type issues the way you like and the 1st section would be unaffected.
