I have too much info in my tables at work to create a pivot table in Excel 2003 that doesn't run out of memory and I was wondering ... since Excel 2007 has so many more rows and columns than Excel 2003, have the Pivot Table size restrictions changed in 07 as well?

Excel 2003 had 65536 rows x 256 cols

Excel 2007 had 1 M rows x 1 M cols

These are not the probelm of your computer

If your computer an error that is named "Out of Memory", then it is the RAM that your computer have, not Excel

Increase the RAM and try again

you need to modify your table.

sounds to me like you have too many columns (rows are not normally the issue)

if you have dates across the top of the table, for example, you will need 1 coulumn for each day in the month and for 12 months that will be too much.

add an extra column to your data page ( next to the date column if that is the problem)

then put the following formula in the 1st empty cell next to the date: =month( date cell)

this will return just the month number

then redo the table with the month not the date and you wont run out of columns

when the table is produced just change the numbers to the month name. You could use a lookup function if you know how.

i became able to verify to do macros from what's in Excel interior the help area. you employ some thing they call seen elementary. It wasn't undesirable. the help area additionally has preparation on pivot tables, yet i've got no longer tried it. There are books you could purchase that would make it much less demanding for you
