I'm attempting video editing for the first time, so I'm using the free software from microsoft(Windows 7 download) rather than spending money on it. I've got 2 minutes and 20 seconds of WMV footage imported, chopped up into 133 clips, and a 2 minute mp3 sound track. It's crashing like crazy - insisting that all the clips are broken - whenever I try to make it do just about anything, and it started doing this while I was still splitting up the clips. So it makes me think that maybe I've just given it too many individual bits to cope with.

When it says that all clips are broken, I can actually save the file, reopen it and it's fine. But it's also removed the video from some of them, leaving them black - is it possible to get the image back?

For basic editing, AVS Video Editor is a great choice: It's also free trial, so that's always nice

One reason I can think why it is crashing is your computer is probably old and can't take activity like video editing. Video editing requires a fast computer with sufficient memory. Win movie maker can support more hours of video.

hmm to not sure what your asking, yet i comprehend theres a button to the spectacular under the demonstrate screen the place you could cut up the scenes. you basically convey it the area you desire to diminish off, cut up it, and then delete the un-necessary scene. Its makes it alot much less stressful...wish i helped.
