Is there a lightweight browser for Windows 2000 that supports modern web standards and runs smoothly on an 800 MHz CPU that's very old? I've already tried Firefox and opera, both are very laggy. Google Chrome doesn't support Windows 2000. The only browser that runs smoothly on windows 2000 is Internet Explorer 6 but its too old to work with modern web standards.

So are there any web browsers that are better suited on limited hardware but still be able to browse the web and perhaps use plugins like Flash Player?

Firefox is lightweight. The exceptional thing to do although is to get moveable application or that you can make it your self. VMware thinapp is an efficient application to make portable apps. It compresses it fairly and you do not ought to set up anything so that you may carry it on a flash pressure

I would use an older version of Maxthon Browser. It's freeware and you can get here: http://www.oldapps.com/maxthon.php
