Personally I would like to see running software updates and not dependent on there being a new release before they are applied.

1. Better hardware support (something I want from all distros, really, and has to be done at a kernel level)

2. An easier way to try new/unstable/beta software. For higher-level software, this shouldn't be too difficult, and could help the developer fix bugs faster.

3. For that matter, a better bug reporting system. Whenever an app crashes and I file a bug report, they complain that I didn't append enough debugging data. The problem is that there IS no debugging data; the crash report, if it even appears, usually lists "No debugging symbols found."

4. More software bounties.Ironically for free software, most gains have been made by throwing money at a problem. Smaller open source projects work by users offering a bounty to write software to a certain need or add additional functionality.

Example bounty program:

For all its issues, Ubu has been setting the pace. Call it good marketing, good packaging, whatever, they have done what a lot of others are trying to do. Created a popular, usable distro that has a path and future. Ubu is in a position to educate and groom new converts. BSD hit a great point. Although all distros are customizable, noobs want it all at the 1st boot. Ubu really needs to beef up on the KDE side. There is no doubt that there is an issue there. Also, the CL is not the future of Linux in my opin.... People are visual, and with the outrageous growth of ADD people cant remember directions to drive around the block, let along remember sudo or grep or help. UBu needs to partner with a vendor that will promote its product. It is the most viable name recognition distro out there. There are challengers. And the beauty of the open source framework is that someone CAN and likely will put together the distro that attracts Win users.

I would love to see a ubuntu where it's all like windows(no programming is needed in doing works)

Means i have to write a lot of commands to make a dial up connection from mobile via bluetooth on my ubuntu!

It's really annoying, If ubuntu will made so IT WILL BE A TOTAL WINNER

Like i dont know the commands, So to create a connection, every time i get to windows search internet for commmands and then write them on ubuntu, if a mistake occurs i dont get even noticed!!

Totally today UBUNTU is not for computer newbies or people who dont know programming lang.

It supports only few works that can be done with writing commands!!AND THAT"S NOT ENOUGH!!

If you know a method to connect dial up connection via bluetooth by using my mobile as bletooth

Please mail me!(From my profile page)

All I want to see is(in the order of preference) :

1) Faster bug fixes.

2) Make it easier to install software offline. Many of my friends don't want to switch because they don't have an internet connection. Installing drivers and other software would be a pain.

3) Prettier default GUI.

cant you fix that by changing the repositories in synaptic so that you can update to "bleeding edge" releases?

The theme. Ubuntu is just plain ugly (in my opinion anyway). All that ~brown~ ergh. It should come with some decent color schemes.

Also an option to log in as root would be useful. I hate all that sudo command line stuff...

I agree i HATE brown and the word 'UBUNTU' so uncool

About the sudo thing you can just do su instead but dun screw up yr system

And one thing UBUNTU ought to go on a diet the penguin is too fat

Shed some bloatware and make it faster (Fedora is so much faster)

Things like compiz-fusion shld be optional

Btw screw GUI

CLI is much faster
