Every time I download a .exe file this happens!? could it be because of my computer or something, Just ran malware bytes but no viruses or anything there, so im thinking something wrong with either the OS or the hardware?
I'm Running Windows XP Proffesional on a Compaq NC4200 Business Notebook, with 2GB of ram.
Any help would be great! Much Appreciated :)

have you tried Saving the exec instead of Run - then closing the net and clicking on the download icon to install

I suspect that something in the security settings of your browser or your anti-virus is misbehaving if this is a straight download and you haven't tried to run the file downloaded.
A badly behaving anti-virus could do this if it is malfunctioning. Instead of giving you a warning about a potential threat (because of the extension being .exe) it malfunctions and gives you the error message about needing to shut down.
