Hello, I need some help; I'm brand new to linux and I'm running Ubuntu 8.04.2 on VMware Fusion 2.0.4 on a MAc that's running Leopard.

I need to install VMware Tools to Ubuntu because I want to be abel to enable Visual Effects, I looked all over the place for tutorials and there all out-dated because the VMware Tools are different.

So please help me out, What's the easiest way to enable Visual Effects in Ubuntu 8.04.2? Also an easy way to install VMware Tools to Ubuntu.

Thanks in advance!

Start the virtual machine and wait for Ubuntu to start completely. Then use virtual machine's menu, find "Install VMware Tools". The command will map a ISO image in you virtual machine's CDROM drive and from that CD you install the tools. Easy.

Of course ever easier would be for you to RFTM...

Not being familiar with VMWare with a mac host, I can't tell you for sure, but under a Linux host, once you get your virtual machine up and running, the tools at the top of the "windows" the machine is running on should give you an option to install the appropriate tools under one of the headings... It's been a while since I've used VMWare (I've switched to using virtualbox OSE (open source edition)), so I can't tell you exactly which drop-down it's under, but look there.
