Will installing FireFox fix YouTube saying Ooops your web browsers no longer supported. Please upgrade to a modern fully supported browser?

We have Windows 7 Pro 64bit and Internet Explorer 11. We have noticed more and more lately that youtube and other websites are saying that our browser is no longer supported or lacks sufficient criteria to work properly on their web site and to either update or upgrade our browser. Well, we can't update or upgrade IE 11 because Microsoft said we are already running the most up-to-date browser that Windows 7 operating system will allow, and so does it make sense to install Firefox in order to then make our browser compatible or at least more compatible with the sites that now doesn't like our current IE 11 browser? ....and NO, We Will Not Install Google Chrome! This was already one of the WORST things we have ever done...even though a bunch of people said they didn't have problems with Chrome, we ended up with nothing but constant problems and so went back to IE11 !

Firefox works just fine on my Win7/64-bit machine. No problems, and it plays everything I visit.

As to what "The Truth Is Out There" said - if Win7 is working for you, don't upgrade to Win10. Firefox, because of some of its improved security features, is NOT a POS piece of software. No disrespect to anyone, just sayin'.

Technically IE development ended in 2015, as in Microsoft does not develop any new features or upgrades as they have moved on to Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge. Any IE updates past that are simply security updates or various bug fixes

So if a website has features that IE 11 doesn't support, then IE 11 doesn't support it and you should install a browser that is more updated, such as Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc.

That depends of which version of Windows you are using and the version of internet explorer your using only if Microsoft would stick to its word and end internet explorer

Cool...thanks Brayden! I think we will try firefox since our IE11 definitely has the latest updates & after we just tried to upload a video on youtube and when we went to edit it, a message came up saying "ooops your web browser is no longer supported. Please upgrade to a modern, fully supported browser", we then went to youtube's supported browsers page but it tells us "You're awesome! That's right! Your browser is up-to-date, which means you can use YouTube's latest features. Enjoy!" ...eyes rolling

Firefox has an add-on that plays YouTube videos Firefox has limited flash because Flash is a high security risk people are constantly working on breaking into the Flash Player so Firefox has limited the amount that flash will play.

I have not heard of any complaints with firefox using youtube. But at the same time, I honestly have not heard of anyone having IE11 issues on youtube either.

I realize you have IE11, but do you have the latest updates installed for IE11? Just because you have Win 7 and IE11 doesn't mean your PC is fully up to date. A lot of users refuse to install their windows updates. So even though you have IE 11, there are incremental updates to it. For example: there is a big difference in IE11 and IE11.0.45. And there was recently (as in this month) a big update to IE11 that is running in Win 7. So if you are behind on updates, install them and see if this corrects your issues because youtube would be expecting the most updated version if IE11 and if it doesn't find it, it gives that error message you are seeing.

If you are up to date, then you will have to at least try firefox since you've already tried Chrome. It's not going to hurt the computer to try.

Windows 7 is already an obsolete OS. Update to Win 10 or better yet, when you change computers get an iMac or a MacBook. And forget Firefox. It's another obsolete POS. Just saying'

I have zero problems with youtube on macOS or iOS.

YES! I didn't realize there was anybody left in the world using a Microsoft browser, let alone a version of IE. Edge is the newest MS browser and it's crap.

No matter what OS you have it will not fix your problem.
