Question:
Anyone know how to format columns in MS Word so that the text doesn't wrap from bottom left to top right?

I'm trying to format text so that the right column can be used for notes or comments about the text in the left column. The text in the left column should continue from page to page in the left column and not wrap from left to right. I'm using Word XP and can't even find proper help on Microsoft's site.

If you want to be able to type in the column on the right do the following;

Format your two columns and type your text letting it wrap into the second column. When finished insert your cursor at the end of the left column and insert a Column Break. Turn on the Show/Hide button to see the Break and insert your cursor before it. Use the Return key to force the Break onto the next column. This will leave the column on the Right blank and you will be able to insert your cursor in it to type comments.

If you just want a wide margin to write comments in when printed, adjust the right margin in Page SetUp.

try to insert a page break before your second column see if you like the way that it looks.if not try to justify the column. or play with the paragraph format.

Yes. first you create a table with 2 columns and one row. Then set Borders and Shading to NONE. Then make sure WRAP TEXT is check and AUTOMATICALLY RESIZE to FIT CONTENTS is not tick.

For table properties just click the table then right click.

If you double click on what you want the words to wrap around, it should be a tab about text wrapping and the way you want it wrapped. :)
