At the minute, Google Chrome supports privacy mode but is avaliable in alpha release version for Linux. Either you can wait for the final release or go with the alpha.

Have you checked the package management program Synaptic to see what browser there are available. I know the Linux I use has an anonymous web browser available, maybe Ubuntu offers one too.

you can use tor

here are the compiled bin's in .deb for ubuntu if you wish to use them

this is in essince a proxy works alittle differnet but..

or you can use a proxy

and by the way for the person talking about google chrome i dident know that was avalible for linux i used it once on a windows machine hated it, i just use seamonkey

firefox is the best browser on any os so try firefox and about private browsing u can download add-in for this from
