Windows did not pass genuine validation?

Okay so, today I had this message pop up at me and I don't really understand why. I bought this laptop from one of my mothers coworkers and it's a Dell Inspiron 15R it worked fine but it did have viruses on it. I did a factory system restore and installed all the updates it needed. Eventually the hard drive failed and it wouldn't start up it would just go into repair startup mode. I took the hard drive from my old laptop and put it into this one, but it worked fine for a month. It's been a month since I placed that hard drive into this one. Could that be the problem though? If so how do I make it go away? I don't have money to buy a stupid key to register it.. And yes I do have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, that's where the message is coming from. Will someone tell me what I should do to fix this? I'm not computer smart so, use words I can understand, thank you in advance! :D

Very short answer:

1. Download Windows Loader by DAZ (Google it)

2. Download Windows Watermark Remover if needed (it removes the text at the right corner of your desktop)

Search in google for "windows * watermark remover" (* = include your windows version (xp/vista/7 etc)

It is very easy to use the Loader but there is also tons of tutorials. Google is your friend.

- This is for education purposes only -

You may download those programs just to check how they look like only. Since you are "not computer smart" you may want to learn something.

generally the info I provided is how computer users fix the issue like yours. They also never using "Windows Update".

Your problem is what is called "OEM" "Original Equipment Manufacturers".

This means your Windows Operating system is locked to the computer it was bought with and cannot be transferred. So when you installed the HDD into another computer which it is not linked to it will stop in 30 days. You can purchase a retail license from Microsoft. A retail license can be moved from computer to computer but you must tell them.

Call Microsoft and explain you situation.

probably not passing microsoft's checkpoints because the OEM OS is not running on the machine the OEM build the was made for. save up $300? by the time you do, windows 8 will be out.

also, you can purchase recovery disc set for $20-50 made for the box for a lot less.

that should get you up and running for cheap, and legal! see link

when you changed the hard drive over did you reinstall windows or use the windows from the other pc that were already on the drive, if you just used the windows that were on the drive this is why you are getting the invalid windows , you need to use the windows that came with the laptop you are using now

If it's a legal copy of Windows, contact Microsoft and they'll fix things up for you.

if you download http://www.ubuntu.com and install that

http://www.ubuntu.com/tour/en/ here is a tour so you can see what its like

to see if you like it. VERY easy to install!

you'll never see a virus again + its free :)

and with vmware player you can install that and

https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free#desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_player/5_0

found here the .bundel file once downloaded right click file and make as executible

in terminal type in "sudo ./VM(rest of file name here) and thats it (easy)

http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Windows-8-Download-196339.html

install winodws 8 into that if you want to access windows for any reason..

you can hook up usb devices to it as well say printer or ipod etc..

once you figure out how it works its so easy :)
