maybe, maybe not.

There is a program on linux OS called WINE. Its a program which can gives your computer compatibility level so it can run some windows programs.

When you install wine on a ubuntu try to right click your program and select open with WINE.

If it does not open up then, I would suggest when trying to use WINE, that you use WINE through the console instead of the graphical interface. That way if it does not work, it can show an error message saying what dll file you might need to get for it to run.

Pfo: WINE stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator. It actuality *does* run Windows programs on Linux.

other options:

get http://www.virtualbox.org

install QEMU and kqemu

install Windows in in VirtualBox or QEMU

try http://www.reactos.org in VirtualBox or QEMU (rarely runs Windows stuff, but there's a chance)

You can install Mac OS X in VirtualBox or QEMU but this will void your OS X warranty. Unless you are doing this on a Mac machine. Which you can.

Windows programs won't run on Linux. You can try emulating them through WINE, but this doesn't always work 100%, and it incurs additional overhead because each computer instruction in the program is interpreted and translated, making the program run about 2 - 10 times slower.

Many apps will work, but you will need to check the specs before installing to see if it is compatible,

What you would need to do is go to the WINE website and see if the appilications you wish to run are there. WINE is an emulator that allows you to run Windows software under the version of UNIX/Linux you have.

If Pro Tools is there (I'm looking . . .), then you are in.

They have Pro Tools 7 listed in their database, but it looks as if it may not work well if at all.
