I Don't get why people beat on Microsoft so much. I am a tech geek, and I love to read tech news, but I don't get, why does tech editors beat on Microsoft. All they can say is Vista is terrible, which I have on my desktop and I like it. They talk about how Windows is awful and the company is awful, which I like Windows a lot, I have difficulties with Mac's, and I think Microsoft is a great company. What's your thoughts??

It is because Microsoft, as a corporate philosophy, has always put more effort and resources into expanding an operating system that serves a complex range of technical business needs more than focusing on building a consumer-friendly operating system.

Microsoft has a history of being a company where technical "feature-building" decision makers out-weight user-interface decision makers. Over the years this has created a bloated OS that is more prone to conflicts with various software and that is harder to do certain tasks.

Personally my productivity increased greatly once I moved to a modern Mac (the old Macs stunk) from Win XP. Along with security, productivity is a huge concern for businesses. I would think that if Apple chose to target the business market more it could do very well.

I'm a little surprised. Microsoft owns much of the tech press, so their propaganda efforts must be faltering harder than I thought. At least they've still worked charmingly on you, though. :) Some pertinent reading: http://www.roughlydrafted.com/2007/12/15/soviet-microsoft-stockholm-syndrome-among-unswitchable-windows-users/

They're only getting shredded because they've earned it tenfold.

i run vista ultimate, but personally if i had a choice o would run down to the mac store and buy myself a mac. Windows gets viruses way to fast and easily, and slow down after time. Macs dont get viruses nearlly as easy and are way faster.

For what they charge for every bit of software, their quality control is rubbish. Also their support is very poor, having on several occasions had to phone transatlantic to get any kind of response, and then never a correct answer.
