Anyone who says a version of linux is best hasn't been using linux very long and should be ignored.
There is no BEST version. People have their preferences. Many versions exist to support specific types of environments, but most can be used in any environment, regardless. I too like debian... but there's nothing wrong with fedora... or mandriva... or slackware... or suse... or ubuntu... or any of the HUNDREDS of other distributions out there.

Hi!,
1stly, all the names that u have given are the distributions and Linux itself is the OS. So, have u ever tried any of these distributions?
If so, Fedora / Redhat are almost similar, same company ofcourse. But fedora is for the linux community and Redhat supported by the company, so u pay for support. mandrake, somewhat similar to ms windows, in use. Suse, also, is a good distro.
U would find more reading documents on internet for Redhat / Fedora. so, you decide which 1 is good. Rest... all the distributions are based on the almost same softwares, and kernels available, only the versions would be a plus or minus.

My biggest problem with picking a best is I have only ever used redhat and fedora
redhat first, then when i decided to rebuild the server i put fedora fc3 on it
i have never ever had reason to change or try another, heck i have only ever had to boot the darned thing after some builders cut the power to our street

There is no "best" distro. Go to http://distrowatch.com if you want information about hundreds of distros. I like Debian, Ubuntu, and Knoppix. But everyone has their own preferences and their own reasons.
