Is it true that you can only access one database at a time?

I wanted to copy and paste certain ID's from one database to another, but its quite difficult that way.

I want to select only certain ID's to be used, for my envelope labels, is there any easier way to do so, without making a new database with the particular IDs?

You would have to open Access two times.

Example: click the Access icon to open, then open your database. Minimize the page. then click the Access icon to open Access a second time and then open the 2d database.

Otherwise, it won't work because it's not like Excel or Word for instance. Those two programs you can open as many files as you want. But if you only open Access one time, and you try to open a second database, it will automatically close the first database.

Each instance of Access can only open one database at a time. If you open two database files, then Access will open twice. This should work for what you are doing. If you need to open the same database twice then just change to name to end with a 2 or any character and open it in a second instance of Access. Like opening two different internet browsers at the same time. You could also just copy the table and then delete the names you don't want from the second copy of the table. After that you can print your labels from all of the entries in that table. Hope this helps.

It has been a while since I last used Access but from memory, export the data from the database that has the id's (choosing only the id's that you want to export). Then close the database. Open the database that you want to use and import the data that you exported from the other database.

I don't use Access, but I would assume you could open the Access program in two or more windows, and open a database in each one. If you put two database windows side by side, you then drag and drop, or copy and paste.
