I'm looking for a windows alternative for my new PC because i cant afford windows at the moment. Which versions have the most windows-like feel to them?

Ive heard PC-BSD is fairly close but is there any others which i might consider?

Thanks

Forget BSD, it's not anywhere near as well supported as Linux - but it does look the same.

It uses an awful partitioning scheme involving 'slices' very similar to early MAC's really and should you decide to install multiple versions of Linux, BSD does not play nice with Linux partitions

No, there's only one contestant in the free OS stakes and that's Linux

Whether you choose to follow the sheep into Ubuntu land is up to you, but there are lots of different versions of Linux to try and one should suit you

As far as beginners are concerned, these are your choices IMO

PClinuxOS - much better for beginners than Ubuntu

Mint - a customised version of Ubuntu that is better for 'newbies'

OpenSuse - very solid, probably better suited for serious use

All have a basic 'windows' look and feel because they have menus and icons to click. But if you expect any to mimic Windows entirely, you're going to be very disappointed

Zorin 4 (or 3) is almost exactly similar to Windows Vista / Win 7.

Free download here http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=06418

"Zorin OS 3 now comes pre-installed with a brand new exclusive program called the Zorin OS Look Changer. This allows you to use your desktop in not only a Windows 7 style, but also Windows XP and GNOME interface."

I find Linux with KDE as the User Environment is probably the closest to Vista or Win 7. My suggestion would be Kubuntu 10.10 or SUSE.

Ubuntu is great, even better than windows but you have to do some more work to get the applications to work. I was using version 9.0.
