I downloaded the font from http://cooltext.com/Fonts-Horror

I have Windows Vista, and MS Word 2007. I'd like to download one of the fonts, but WinRAR won't let me copy the .ttf file onto the Fonts folder found in the Control Panel, which is how I believe you do it.

If anyone could help, that'd be awesome. If I'm not doing this right at all, please correct me. I'd really like to download fonts from this website...

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to install fonts onto your computer: (after downloading the zip file from www.dafont.com, or any other font site. Sometimes it might not be a zip file but in most cases it is.)

1. Right click on your zip file, and choose the option "Extract all".

2. Follow the steps on the program that will help you extract the files. Save the folder on your desktop.

3. Open the newly created folder that should appear on your desktop after the files are extracted.

4. In the folder should be a few files. One of the files should bear an icon: a piece of paper with a letter on it, O, A or double T's.

5. Copy that file.

6. Go to Start> Control Panel> Fonts, and paste. Alternatively, you can go to Start> My Computer> C drive> Windows> Fonts. But the first one is easier.

7. It's installed :D And you should be able to use it in many applications that allows you to customize fonts. Done!

If you get an error message saying that the file is in use, you can try installing this program:

http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

called Unlocker. Whenever you get one of those error messages, Unlocker will help you to figure out which program is using that file, so that you can stop it. Install it then run it, and then try installing fonts again. If you get the error message, click OK. A second later Unlocker should come up showing which program it is. If you're not using it, you can terminate it.

Now, if my answer didn't help you, you can email me with more details and I'd be glad to help! :D

This is a safe link where you can download winrar for free here http://bit.ly/1v2nWkq

You can use winrar to unzip zip files (or to open compressed folder). 7zip or winzip are other softwares you can use for the same purpose but winrar is by far the best one. All these programs work in a very similar way: you just have to right click the file to zip or unzip any folders or files.

If you don't want a trial version don't worry. The trial period of winrar never ends so you can use it for free with no limitations.

With WINRAR you will be able to open all the type of compressed folder like file .zip, .rar, .7z, .7zip .iso, .tar, .jar etc... that's the main reason why I recommend it.

Since you have to "install" a .ttf file into C:\Windows\Fonts, it has to be open 1st. The file won't be recognized by the "font installer" associated with loading fonts into that particular folder (just the .ttf file, alone can be installed). Unzip it into a new folder or one you already have & then drag it into the C:\Windows\Fonts folder (you can also right click the .ttf & press copy or cut, then go & highlight the C:\Windows\Fonts folder itself, then right click it & hit Paste. A message should tell you it's being installed. Then you have to go to MSWord & load the Font, or if it's there already, you can to use it.

Uncompress the fonts to a separate folder first then check out this link: http://www.lytebyte.com/2007/07/03/how-to-install-new-fonts-in-windows-vista/

Try extracting the zipped file to your documents area, once that is done, find it and hit ctrl+x to cut it,

open the fonts foler and hit ctrl+v to paste it in.

This more direct method might work.

Check here http://bit.ly/1p3PcdE if you want to get Winrar for free

The best program you can use to decompress all the different kind of files is Winrar.
