How do you put anything next to a photo, clip art, etc in a Word doc? It will only let me go under the object

In a Word document, I'll try to put text NEXT to a photo, but the photo seems to "reserve" the entire space all the way across the document. What's the secret to getting something next to a photo, or clip art? THAKS! I'm desperate!!

First -- if you reduce the size of the object (click on it, go to top right corner of the object, click on the little circle (also called "handles" and drag to left) you will be able to type next to object. You can also align the object with the standard text align (left, center, right).
Another method, is to double click on the object. "Format Picture" dialogue box will appear. To re-size, you can click on the "Size" tab. Or to change object layout, click on the tab for "Layout." Your current layout is "in line text." Click on "Square" to allow text to wrap around the object. If you want to have some fun, you can also try "in front of" or "behind" text.
Don't forget, if you make a mistake, you can always "undo" as many times as you need.

right click on the picture and select format picture. Then select layout. Choose from the options given. If you want to put the pic next to text, I ususally pic tight or square and move the pic.
