Question:
nView Help!?
Bridget

Every time I try to download something onto my computer, there is a popup that says:

"Internet Download Manager has not been registered for 30 days. Trial Period is over and IDM is exiting..."
and when I click OK there is another popup that says

"Please enter your registration details and press OK."
and it asks me for my first and last name, email, and serial number.

I have NO idea what is going on and I thought I had uninstalled nView the day before. So now I cant download anything.

I know this isn't very much info but I will be glad to answer any questions! Thanks!

This has nothing to do with nView, which is a peice of software to give added control over an Nvidia manufactured graphics card.

The clue here is Internet Download Manager, which is the program with the expired trial period. When you click OK you are agreeing to give purchase details.

Internet Download Manager is software used to controls downloads from the internet and promises increased speed for said downloads.

Follow this:

Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs

Now in this list find an entry for Internet Download Manager

Click the remove/uninstall button and confirm at each stage of the uninstallation process.

READ EACH DIALOGUE PROPERLY BEFORE CLICKING OK.

Hope this helps.

1) This has NOTHING to do with Nvidia nView, OK? You don't have to pay for nView and it doesn't have a trial period. you do have to pay for IDM and it does have a trial period.

2) Uninstall IDM in the 'Add/Remove Programs' Control Panel applet. Or use the shortcut in the Start Menu, if it exists.

3) You (or another user of the computer) must have installed it somehow. If it installed itself from a website, try not using IE and use Firefox instead, as this is far less likely to happen (hence why lots of non-experts use Firefox).

4) Always run a firewall (ZoneAlarm Free for example), good anti-virus (AVG Free 8 for example), and Anti-Spyware (Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, for example). The best free products are as good as the expensive ones. Then scan once a week or when you get very suspicious behaviour.

5) NEVER download software offered to you in a pop-up or similar aggressive marketing technique - genuine software gets marketed by word of mouth and good reviews by sites such as download.com (always google something you're not sure of).

6) When downloading software and installing it, it's essential to scan it with that good anti-virus scanner you installed. Always check your download source, as above, too.

7) Download managers are only much use if your internet connection is slow or the server at the other end is. Or if you have to schedule lots of overnight downloads when you're asleep. I don't really find the need for one and I download lots.

The unist.exe probably didnt work properly.

Unist Is a special file that keep a log of where and how to remove all the files in the application.

Sometimes when you try to remove a program that is in use (its virtually locked into the memory) and cannot be removed, thus when when the uninst program trys to remove the files that are in use, windows rejects access until reboot.

It main term is called "Memory Resident".

There is a series of steps to do this properly so bear with me....

First of all we need to disable the download manager.

Reboot you computer and wait until the inital screen(just after you turn it on), just after that continue to press F8 about once a second until a menu appears, Now using the arrow keys scroll down the one that says Safe Mode with Networking" and press enter.

When on your desktop open Internet Explorer and download the progarm again - you can download it because in safe mode you disable all 3rd party software and services(apart from norton coz its a bugger.

Now Download a program called ccleaner.exe, this is a powerfull free registry cleaner that will remove orphened keys accociated with IDM.

Now you have to rebuild the uninst.exe log file so you wil have reboot the pc in normal mode, and re-install IDM.

On installation it creates a special log file that lists EVERY file and REGISTRY KEY it installs.

Reboot the pc again and that will make sure that the program is finalised and fully installed.

Now the easy bit

Go to control Panel, Add Remove Programs, and then IDM.

When you click remove it will execute the uninst.exe in the IDM folder (usually something like c:\program files\tonec\internet download manager\uninst.exe)

UPDATE------->>>>>>>

Now for nview, i nearly forgot coz I was in my element.

As the post above, nview has nothing to with IDM, its just a enhancement application to use special features with your graphics card.

OK, I have two possible answers for this question. 1. first click start then run type in the box "msconfig" and press enter then just look for the nview checkbox and uncheck it then restart your computer and it should not give you any trouble. 2. Install another browser like firefox 3 or opera 9.

Do not reinstall windows unless you really, really want to. That is not the correct option.

1) Double check you actually uninstalled the program

2) If you remember where you installed it go there and delete everything in the folder associated with this program

3) If you do not remember, look in program files in my computer, or use search.

4) In your browser, tell it to disallow all third party apps and reset defaults

5) Install a new browser such as FF or Opera

the problem is not caused by uninstallation of nview, nView is

tool/driver needed by nvidia VGA cards.

your problem is caused by internet download manager.. and it seems like you are using the trial version of Internet download manager.

if you really like IDMan then i suggest you buy it, you can do it by clicking http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/buy.html

before buying idman you might want to reconsider that there are tons of free download managers, you might want to check:

gigaget: http://www.gigaget.com/

Orbit Downloader: http://www.orbitdownloader.com/

those are 100% freeware and powerful download manager.

And if you're using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer, then i highly recommend using DownThemAll, it is a plugin for firefox, the developers claims DownThemAll is able to speedup download speed by 400%

info and download: http://www.downthemall.net/

please note, if you're NOT going to use IDMan then you should uninstall idman, you can do that by opening CONTROL PANEL then open ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS, look for Internet download manager / IDMan entry then uninstall it..

goodluck ^_^

If your IDM uninstaller did not fully remove the application go here and download the uninstaller from the page.

Don't know what version of operating system you're using but if it's xp, you might try restoring your system configuration to an earlier time before the problem started. Go to run on the start menu and type msconfig, click on launch sytem restore and choose a time before the problem started and click restore. This should restore your compter to the way it was on the day you choose.

You need to uninstall the "Internet download manager", this is another program you have downloaded!

You need to remove it, then everything should be OK.

There is nothing to worry about it. I Think nView is a downloading software that is install on your system. It is use to increase download speed. Just go to

1. Start-> Setting

2. Control Panel

3. Add/Remove Programs

4. Find nView and Remove it.

5. Problem Solved

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes we just click "OK" button on screen without reading the message. As a result, these softwares get downloaded on the system.

Some programs will not uninstall in the reqular mode. You need to startup in the SAFE MODE the go to the add/remove and take out the offending files.

just disable it...Click start then click run. In the box type msconfig

then click OK. Then click the start up tab. Remove the check mark by nview then click OK. Restart your computer and it should not give you anymore trouble
