hold the control key down and pick/select those of the same kind and bring(drag) the whole lot over to another folder...

I'm not sure about some utility that helps you organize it like that but you do know that you can press CTRL + left click to select multiple pictures right? Try it out if not, that should save you tons of time if you were just doing it one by one.

Use Ctrl + A to selct all

Then CTRL + C to copy them

Then move to the destination dir and use CTRL + V to paste them All



If you want to select all Types like jpg Then do this:

Click Start > Search > All files and folders > Pull down the "Look In" drop down menu at the bottom use the Browse option and navigate to the dir with all the pictures. Then type *.jpg in the file name. Click search then Hit CTRL + A to select all CTRL + C to copy then move to the dir where you want then and hit CTRL + V to paste.



You can also use the wild card search for DM1*.jpg so all the DM100.jpg - DM 1000.jpg would be searched for.



To do mutiple folder you can also do the CTRL + A and select all then use the CTRL + Mouse Click to unselect the ones you dont want.



If you have similarities in names like:

Mom beach.jpg

Mom Christmas.jpg

Momsday.jpg

Mom home.jpg

Mom birthday.jpg



You can use the search routine to look for mom*.* and if will find all the above mentioned files, then hit CTRL + A to select all etc...



Fastest way to make mutiple directories is to create one right click + drag and copy it, then do 2 then 4 then 8 then 16 etc... then go back and rename them as you like.

Copy (3) of Copy of New Folder

Copy (4) of Copy of New Folder

Ok here is a interesting way to make multiple directories:

open excel, in block A1 enter 1

in A2 enter =A1+1 then copy A2 and paste it over A3-A10

now you have 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10

in block B1 type ="Directory name"&A1 Copy B1 and paste it over B2-10

now you have:

dan1 dan2 dan3 dan4 dan5 dan6 dan7 dan8 dan9 dan10

Copy B1-B10, open notepad and type MD then paste after MD so it looks like this:

MD dan1 dan2 dan3 dan4 dan5 dan6 dan7 dan8 dan9 dan10

Now save it as somthing like go.bat (NOT .txt)

copy your new bat file to the dir where you want the folders created.

Double click the go.bat file and you now have 10 directories called: dan1 dan2 dan3 dan4 dan5 dan6 dan7 dan8 dan9

You could do this for 100 directories using any name you want in increments of 1



Was thinking outside the box here



LOL I just tested it with 100 occurances of dan1 dan2 etc.., and it took less than a second to create 100 folders, hehehehe

Another neat trick is to open your documents and settings directory, your profile, then the "Send To" directory. If you dont see it, click Tools > Folder Options > View > Check "Show Hidden Files and Folders" Now open the "Send To" directory and copy in the short cuts of the directorys you want the pictures to go.

Now you can select alot of pictures and right click and "Send To" a specific folder you set up. Alot faster than dragging and dropping :)
