How do I update my version of iTunes?

Question

On iTunes my iPod won't sync with the iTunes system. I asked on a different site what to do and the people said I should update my version of iTunes. So I have a few questions about this:

1. If I update my version of iTunes to the most up to date version (probably) will I still have my music?
2. Will it work?
3. How do I update the version of iTunes.

I don't know how updating itunes will make your Ipod sync , it should sync no matter what version you have

2. everything should work the same

3. go to apple.com and click ipod+itunes close to the top there should be pictures of ipods and so on, click the one that is about itunes then click download itunes then go the steps your computer wants you to.
