Depends on what you like and what you want to do with it.
Personally I'd stick xubuntu on it.

Firstly i want to tell you Linux is the name of kernel.
Now, there are many linux flavours available. All have their some specific demand in certain areas.
Ubuntu & Linux Mint are best for Desktop normanl use. Fedora is for small bussiness purpose. Redhat/Debian for Severs. Arch linux if you know what you have to use via self configuration.Backtrack like OS is good for Pen Testing Purpose. So, for normal use go with ubuntu 12.04 LTS latest version its nice and easy to learn and almost on all laptop it is fully supportable with enhached power saving options in ubuntu 12.04.Also linux flavours comes with many Desktop Interfaces like GNOME,UNITY,KDE,XFCE choose what you want. Also Linux based OS uses less RAM and is faster and secure than windows, also no virus tention.
Mac os is paid one and costly, also this is not as much customizable and flexible like linux. Actually mac is an UNIX like operating system.
But i suggest to go with linux flavours.
Thanks!

What are you trying to do and what is your background? Mac OS software is intended for Mac hardware. Linux is one of two related configurable OSes which Mac is also related to admittedly. If you know something about Linux then I'd go with Fedora:
http://www.fedoraproject.org
or Centos:
http://www.centos.org
If you know ubuntu I'd go with Linux Mint:
http://www.linuxmint.com
or Debian:
http://www.debian.com
If you REALLY want to know Linux I'd go with Slackware:
http://www.slackware.com
or Gentoo:
http://www.gentoo.org
Finally the OS MacOS X is related to is FreeBSD:
http://www.freebsd.org
It's actually very like Debian Slackware or Gentoo. You just have to make sure your user id is part of wheel to use su or sudo.

I think that Ubuntu is the best version of Linux, though I have only used the one. However, I have had no issues with it whatsoever - it runs well and very quickly. It's also easy to use - I went from Windows to it with no major problems.
However, it really depends on what your needs/wants are as to which version is best for you. There are different versions for pretty much any purpose you can think of.
