Do software engineers need English writing skills? Why?

It seems to me that writing in English doesn't correlate to writing superb codes. What kind of English writing skills do you need when working as a software engineer, and how does that help you in coding?

1. Good Engineers in any industry, need to be able to make clear plan's and have a clear planning process for every project, and usually this is in writing.



2. Communication between different people working on different parts of many projects, makes it essential to be able to communicate clearly and concisely.



3. Documentation of your work is highly important, because too many people provide poor or low documentation, this makes it incredibly hard for people who have to modify or work on their projects.



In simplest terms, this makes you more than an average engineer, because you will be able to plan clearly, communicate clearly, document your work.



This will make you a better worker, and a better person.

It may seem that way but when you get deeper into your studies, you find it includes writing instruction manuals for your software, if people cant reads your English, then it makes your software almost worthless, also good English skills are essential in every day life, especially if you want to be considered professional. Nobody will take you seriously no matter how good your coding skills are if you rock up with..."Hey sup mofos, I haves some best software that blows way better than whats on now, you need to checkit cause stuffs goin sick and needin ways to be part of sumpin dat I cant even pronounce."

Or your Manual for the latest release of your software states "Make sure you got input connected not after or problems cant fix for you. If your English sucks, you get taken less serious in the real world.

Incorrect English could cause a huge problem ,eg you told the builder the cornice you want fited on the roof , but what you meant was "you want the cornice fitted on the ceiling" so he installed it on your roof !
