What do I need to do to backup Microsoft Office?

I don't have a Microsoft Office CD anymore it broke. Can I backup Microsoft Office to my flash drive using the Windows Backup Utility? Will that work? If so, what do I need to do step by step? If not, how else can I back it up to my flash drive?

This is an old problem. A program can not be "backed up" or copied in it's entirety because it's files are written into to many places in the operating system. It is not only installed into it's program folder, but there are entries in the registry.



Your best bet is to contact Microsoft, tell them your story, and see if you can't get another copy of the disk. MS will require the registration KEY for sure. They may want other info also.

It is not that easy, you need to run the installer, otherwise the library files don't get placed in the appropriate folders and the registry does not get updated. Your only option is to get a second (maybe external) hard drive and clone your current one to it. Try contacting MS, they are sometimes sympathetic to these problems.

you cannot backup from the main drive (c:) because that will NOT contain fiiles used for installing



(as you need the install files when you re-install, you cannot just copy the folder)



unfortionatelly if you do not have the original program cd I think you are stuck
