I recently got windows vista in the mail because when I got my laptop it was capable to run it so I got a free windows upgrade. My questions are should I switch it over to vista or should I keep XP. I meet the requirements for vista so thats a not a problem. I also have Works Suite 2002 and I was wondering if I can use that with vista. I was also wondering if I dont like vista can i switch back to XP or is it a one time deal. If you have any other information about vista I would like to know.

you can switch back if u want, but u have to format ur drive and reinstall xp. I think Works is a microsoft application, if it is it should have no problem installing on vista. If u have a big enough hard drive, i would recommend dual booting. so u will have both os on ur computer, and can boot to each at will. then u can always format the vista partition and add it bak to ur xp partition.

I am not fond of vista. i think it is more of a mutation from xp

I got a Sony laptop in Easter and it came with Windows Vista Home Premium. I'm not sure if your program could work with Vista, but I think you should give it a go. A lot of people says 'Vista is full of bugs, it sucks!' but there is a site, and a pop-up message from the bottom right corner will tell you when there's a solution to a bug, but it won't be so direct, it'll just say that there's a Windows Update. I think Windows Vista is very neat and all the functions are great, it's much more easier to move around with the 3D slide thing. Most programs now have updates so you can use it on Vista. My laptop came with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere Elements, I was reallly excited about it, and once I turned on my computer for the first time, I found that only the programs' installers were installed, after installing, I opened it but it says that it is not compatible with Windows Vista! I pressed search site for updates, and there was an update waiting for me to download, after downloading it, the programs were fine. If you got Windows Vista Ultimate/ Home Premium, you'll also get the Windows Media Center, which is a really cool thing. However it's your choice.

Now to answer your other questions, once you change your PC to Vista, you are able to switch back to XP, unless you don't have your Windows XP installation disc and key code. (I'm quite sure about that, but don't quote me because I'm not 100% sure since I haven't tried to)

I hope that helped!

Vista. some people say Vista makes use of up a lot gadget ram. this is genuine. Vista makes use of those ram to velocity up the computer. Thats why there is not any longer a lot loose ram. Xp wastes those loose ram doing no longer something. Vista is much greater compatible than XP than u think of it quite is. Vista hasn't any problem to me for a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days already. Vista is quicker while commencing application and commencing up the computer. some people evaluate XP as a results of fact they are too used to XP or they are gamer. it style of feels vista is slower in video games via 2-5 fps. No massive deal. VISTa!

I RECOMMEND THAT YOU KEEP WINDOWS XP SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS A BETTER OPERATING SYSTEM. AT LEAST IN MY OPINION. IF YOU USE WINDOWS VISTA RIGHT NOW YOU'RE PRETTY MUCH GOING TO BE A GUINEA PIG FOR MICROSOFT. WHY DO YOU THINK IBM ISN'T USING IT AS THEIR OPERATING SYSTEM. THEY'RE GOING TO WAIT UNTIL THE PUBLIC TESTS IT OUT. WHY DO YOU THINK THEY SENT YOU A FREE UPGRADE. THEY WANT YOU TO TRY THE SYSTEM AND GET FEEDBACK ON THE PRODUCT. THERE ARE MANY THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO WITH WINDOWS XP THAT YOU CAN'T DO WITH WINDOWS VISTA. (EX., WINDOWS XP ALLOWS YOU TO SET UP YOUR COMPUTER TO YOUR HOME NETWORK AND PRINT FROM YOUR NETWORK, YOU CAN'T DO THAT WITH WINDOWS VISTA., ETC.) THE QUESTION YOU ASKED ABOUT WORKS SUITE, MOST LIKELY IF YOU INSTALL WINDOWS VISTA YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO USE IT ANYMORE BECAUSE IT'S A DIFFERENT OPERATING SYSTEM AND WINDOWS VISTA HAS DIFFERENT SOFTWARE(S) ON IT. IF YOU INSTALL VISTA YOU CAN SWITCH BACK TO XP BUT IT MAY TECHNICALLY STILL BE ON YOUR COMPUTER TAKING UP SPACE. YOU MAY WANT TO GET SOMEONE THAT KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING TO DO THAT. PERSONALLY, I LOVE WINDOWS XP (I HAVE PROFESSIONAL, DON'T LIKE THE HOME EDITION). I'M ACTUALLY IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING A LAPTOP AND I WOULD RATHER HAVE XP THAN VISTA. I JUST DON'T WANT TO SPEND MY MONEY ON AN OPERATING SYSTEM THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE ANY GOOD, WHICH SO FAR IT'S NOT.

I highly suggest you keep XP on your laptop. For some reason, even if your laptop meets the requirements, Vista it seems wasn't designed for laptops. I bought a powerful laptop: Core 2 Duo, 2 GB Ram, but Vista wouldn’t cooperate. I currently have XP on it and it runs o much better than Vista. I do, however, have Vista on my desktop and it runs great. I think Microsoft had desktops in mind when they were building the new operating system.

Stay with XP for a while. Vista's full of bugs right now, and it's going to take a few years for them to work out all the problems. The same thing happened when XP came around.

I also heard that Vista has tracking software on it that can tell if you have pirated music on it, even if it came from another computer or a CD, so beware.

Vista is very buggy right now. Most of the antiviruses do not work with it and the games are a tad slow. So stay with XP for some time

If you access answers a lot like I do you’d see how many people have problems with Vista.

Is xp giving you a problem?

If not Id stick with what I knew worked.

Vista has some nice visual effects, but these are window dressing, excuse the pun.
