That's a matter of opinion. Windows has the advantage that most software is designed to expect it, it's also easy to use and is familiar to most people. The vast majority of games require Windows. However, Windows is vulnerable to malware and there's a lot of malware that's been written for it. Linux has the advantage of being free, as is much of the software that runs on it. It's also much less vulnerable to attack, and most malware coders write their malware for Windows since that's what about 90% of the world's computers are using. The main disadvantages with Linux are the frequent need to use text commands (this is improving with newer versions) and the lack of commercially produced software, particularly games. Personally I prefer to have both Linux and Windows installed in my computers since this gives me a choice.

Windows is for the layperson and the average user. Linux is for people who know their way around a computer.
