I've used two - Sony Vegas Studio and Studio 11 (Pinnacle).

Of the two, I like Sony Vegas Studio better - it seems to have more options and capability. Conversely, Pinnacle seems more user-friendly.

There are three biggest names out there for video editing:

1. Adobe Premiere Elements

2. Sony Movie Studio

3. Windows Movie Maker (FREE)

These three are the most common names you will hear from experienced content creators because these editors have been in business for over 10 years each. No other video editor such as Pinnacle Studio or Cyberlink PowerDirector can offer more features or better performance than Adobe or Sony with their editors. With age comes experience. Windows Movie Maker has a reputation of being one of the best "free" video editors since again it has been around ever since Windows XP days and any windows owner has it, but it's EXTREMELY limited and uncomfortable that even any paid editor will be better than Movie Maker.

So go for Adobe or Sony if you want quality and performance. They both are pretty much equal to one another and have similar prices. Adobe has easier learning curve for beginners and co-works with other Adobe software which might be useful for Photoshop, After Effects, Dreamweaver, etc. users.

Note: Don't mistaken Adobe Premiere Elements for Adobe Premiere Pro, and Sony Movie Studio for Sony Vegas Pro. Premiere Pro and Vegas Pro are full and extremely advanced versions for professional film makers, usually for people who will later sell their movies, these two licenses are extremely expensive.

windows movie maker is really simplistic, it has an easy to use interface. It comes with all windows machines, if you dont have it on your machine you can re-download it of Microsofts webpage. You can make crisp 720p videos and im sure with newer versions it allows you to go higher.

the industry standard is Finalcut pro and has been for the last decade or so . there are alternatives and Final Cut Pro is not accessible on a pc it is for mac .

sony vegas is sort of alright it has a lot of accessories and add ons and can be used in conjunction with a lot of software but it always seems a bit fuzzy to me . not the outputt but the programme itself .

premiere pro is quite nice it is similar to vegas pro but more clean cut and a little more efficient any of these are okay but if your editing skills are good it will not really matter what you use . even windows movie maker would be sufficient .
