I have been looking on my review history on laptop ( vista home premium) and have discovered
Microsoft - Other hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter (KB 911895
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 800F020B
Update type: Important
(This has been attempted 5 times)

I also check out if there were any other new updates and found the following

Microsoft Browser Choice Screen update for EEA users of Windows Vista ( KB976002)
Then on the right-hand side of the screen it reads - After you have installed this software update it cannot be removed.
((( wow))) All of this has got me thoroughly confused ?

There could be any number or reasons why an Update failed to install.

Out of the hundreds I have installed for XP over the past 10 years since it first came out, I think it's two or three that have failed on mine.

Hasn't bothered me and it hasn't affected anything so I don't worry about it.

Sometimes it's just another update that prevents another one installing because it can't be overwritten.

There must be a thank you to be certain what device/function those updates are updating or maybe in line with danger why they failed. On my device when I click on the replace preserve to start up the replace, the replace window quickly disappears and the preserve reappears in speedy launch. in case you lower back click on the preserve you will see what the updates are. I’m occurring reminiscence now yet isn’t there a info instant someplace. My better half's mom had an identical concern wherein an replace to .internet framework a million.a million does no longer replace. The replace preserve could look consistently because of this replace however the replace continually failed. i found out that there became into an replace to .internet framework a million.a million that under no circumstances could desire to replace. i found the replace quantity, did a cyber web seek and found out that it became right into a concern-loose replace failure with XP systems and .internet framework mandatory to be uninstalled and the reinstalled. I then sought for ‘uninstalling internet framework’ and located an internet site on the Microsoft internet site that referenced some 0.33 occasion classes that could desire to get rid of .internet framework. After it became into bumped off I went to Microsoft and downloaded .internet framework a million.a million lower back. because then each and every replace has long gone easily with no hitch. something else you are going to be able to desire to purpose is bypass to the Microsoft replace internet site and do an cyber web replace to be certain what updates your device is lacking. go with one and see if it is going to replace. I’m thinking in line with danger if one replace fails then all the others in the back of it interior the queue will additionally fail yet which would be a stretch. good success

When you go to your update history - you should see the name of the update that failed.

Run your cursor over it can copy the name of the failed update.

then go to Google and insert 'Windows update [details of update] will not install' and note the results.

When this happened to me it offered alterations the registry - which when made - allowed the update to install.

Hope this helps.
