You need to register with Oracle as a developer then you can get access to downloads.BUT only for development / playing use... if you use it for a prodcution database it won't be licensed.

Disk should be fine, processor is not important (it runs slower with sloper processors...). RAM is a bit tight, you'll have to run with a small SGA as Oracle grabs all it's memory up front and won't swap it out. So if you set it to 128Mb, you've only got 128Mb left for Windows... and if you set it smaller than 128Mb then Oracle will run really badly. Buy some more memory and it should be fine... another 256Mb is the minimum I'd suggest

System Requirements

The following sections provide system requirements that must be met before installing Oracle9i Developer Release 1 (9.2.0.3.0).

Hardware Requirements

The following are minimum hardware requirements:

* 512 MB memory

* 3 GB of available disk space

Operating System Requirements

The following list indicates operating system requirements:

United Linux 1.0 (x86-64) operating system with kernel version 2.4.19 or later.

glibc version 2.2.5 or later

GNU gcc version 3.2.2 or later

async libraries libaio version 0.3.15 or later

JDK version 1.3.1_02

or Windows XP Professional 2000.

This is what given in the pages of Oracle home site.

But don't worry, you have not a bad configuration.

256RAM has no problem with installation.

Only thing is that it may take a lot of time in processing your result as well as it make your system booting time delayed to a great time.

But still of these problems u r able of use your developer package of Oracle 9i.

I think it would work just fine in your confugration but i think you require at least 10gb free space.

And downloading for free is easy but is called piracy. and i have no problem with that!

OK to download it for free, go to a torrent site like www.isohunt.com, then search for the program required.

Then download the corresponding torrent and the use a Bittorrent client like utorrent http://utorrent.com to download it.
