install zone alarm free(www.zonelabs.com) firewall, the best, you control what connects and what does not! AOL are offering an all in one package which is written by Kaspersky, i use this on about 10 machines, its good and free, you get anti spy, email checker, anti virus, and i think firewall and anti phising. had good results with it over the last few months, and written by one of the best companies!Kaspersky. try it and see with these products you will be safe. suggest when you have loaded xp that you visit this site and sort out the security issues you WILL have, its all free and v.good.www.grc.com and enter into the free programs, after doing these tests you will see why xp is such a good target for hackers!!!!.

Apple application (Mac) can in basic terms paintings on Mac's. besides the indisputable fact that, MS homestead windows (a minimum of XP) can now paintings on Mac's, yet on condition that the Mac has an Intel Pentium chip in it. Dell isn't Apple/Mac acceptable, so Tiger won't truly paintings on it. Vista isn't a conceivable determination for many computing gadget and Laptops. which contain some Mac's. Vista won't totally paintings except you have the right hardware. including a WDDM approved photographs card with a minimum of 256 MB RAM (512 MB will run extra acceptable), 2 GB RAM and a twin-middle processor. a lot of people have been disillusioned that Vista isn't working nicely with their contemporary platforms, even although they meet the minimum standards, and Aero won't paintings in any respect. with out the above advancements, Vista works purely as though that is homestead windows XP, yet with much less good factors.

Uh yeah, windows has so many viruses because it is on most PCs. 95% or more run Windows. so yes, it is a good idea to AV on any computer that is connected to the internet.

Apple/Mac, Linux, SPARC, ENIAC, UNIX , DOS, Windows, any that I cannot think of can be infected with a virus. Best practice is to make a Good Backup Routine and stick to it. Hardware fails, OS's fail, stuff happens. make a backup, run the AV scans, then make another backup.

Oh yeah, make a backup.

Yes, install something such as kaspersky or zone-alarm, plus an anti-spyware program such as spyware doctor or spysweeper. Windows, due to its 90% control of the market is attacked daily, you will need something to protect it.
