Question:
Windows DVD Maker - Unspecified Error?

I wanted to burn some videos onto a 4.6 GB DVD with Windows DVD Maker, but it keeps stopping and giving me an "Unable to burn the DVD - Unspecified Error" at 0.5% every single time! I'm burning only 2 .mpeg (both 1.4 GB) files, with Traditional Chinese characters in the title and notes.
Is it maybe a memory problem? I had 4.6 GB free on my hard drive and got this error the first time I tried. Then, I freed my hard drive so it had 8.8 GB of free space, tried it again, and it's still giving me this problem. I have 4 GB of ram (on a 32 bit OS). I've checked wikipedia, the microsoft site, yahoo answers, the windows dvd maker community forum site, thispos.com, and I didn't get any reasons why windows DVD maker would give me an unspecified error message. What can I do to make Windows DVD maker successfully burn my DVD? Help please!!

Most computer errors are born in a part of your system which hardly anyone knows or understands - the registry. This is the central database of Windows, which actually stores some of your computer's most important files and settings. Everything from your latest emails to your desktop wallpaper are kept in this database, making it one of the most used parts of the Windows system.Because it's used so much, the registry database is actually prone to becoming corrupt and damaged, which makes Windows struggle to read the files inside it. Unfortunately, 100's of registry files are corrupted every week and Windows has no way to protect against it - it's this problem which causes most of your computer's errors. The problem is that when these files are corrupted, your PC actually takes longer to read them and often can't read them at all. This causes errors on your PC which seem to appear randomly. You can use a Registry cleaner. http://cleanup-comuter-run-perfectly.com Registry cleaners are tools which have been created to scan through the registry. They work by scanning each file and then checking to see if it's corrupt or causing problems. If they find that it is broken, the registry cleaner will replace or fix the file for you to make your computer speed up and become free of errors. You should have a try! Good Luck!

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.pchealthcleaner.net

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

I think you have to try another software, some movies can't be supported well on WDM, if you want to burn any moives to DVD writeable disc, and can play well on home DVD player, you can try RZ DVD Creator, it can burn long videos into one disc, it can burn multi videos into one disc, it can auto fit the size, it can convert any movies to video DVD and burn to any CD&DVD wirteable disc(CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), such as wmv to DVD, avi to DVD, mpg to DVD, etc.

You can yahoo or google search and download "RZ DVD Creator", work well on my computer, easy to use, good quality, most functionality, hope it can help you with your problem
