Fedora 9 is having issues with Nvidia support because they employed a beta version of xorg which nvidia will not support until it becomes stable which should be in a short time. you have two solutions. Downgrade xorg or Use fedora 8 until the xorg issue is addressed I have chose to downgrade and wait for xorg to become a stable version so nvidia will support it.

-update-

They have fixed Nvidia for Fedora 9 5/29/2008

*personal recommendation just use fedora 8 until support comes for nvidia on fedora 9.

for installation of drivers go to the home page of livna and install the repository

go to terminal mode and go to Super User mode and type

yum install kmod-nvidia.

-----Update----

5/29/2008

Nvidia problem has been fixed

just go to http://rpm.livna.org/rlowiki/

and select fedora 9 repository and install

go to terminal and type su (press enter)

type your ROOT password (not user)

(press enter)

yum install kmod-nvidia (press enter)

Brandon C is correct. Fedora is my favourite Linux release but I am stuck with interlaced graphics till the X.org failure is fixed. At first everyone blamed nVidia for not letting us use their proprietary drivers on Fedora. But then we found out about the X server in F9 and how nVidia will not support betas/screen shots of new X's, only full releases. So use Fedora 9 with interlace (plugs into motherboard) or use card with no driver (useless but all that works) and wait till X update. Or wait and use 8 for now or downgrade X to 7.3. If that does not work for you use Mandriva Ubuntu or even Geentoo.

in case your computing gadget has the snap shots ability to run compiz fusion then this is the attention candy dealt with. (verify it on You Tube) Fedora isn't in all probability the right for brand spanking new purchasers. The documentation merely isn't there for while issues crop up. i might recommend Mandriva or Debian earlier Fedora yet Ubuntu (9.10 is out next month yet you are able to improve then) and Linux Mint are better for brand spanking new purchasers with Ubuntu merely outdoing Mint led to by its acceptance. All help you place in compiz fusion. Gnome is larger than KDE. KDE does look slightly better 'out-of-the-field' yet this is actual remedied and KDE fees you greater processing ability. It must be stated that some (very few) KDE purposes are better than the gnome counterpart yet maximum could be run in gnome besides and gnome has each and every thing you p.c.. the single element KDE does better is the browser/report supervisor that still permits you to view/preview countless content textile which contain pdfs etc. not one of the flaws you're able to do with Konqueror is the right thank you to do any of them even if it could do all of them! i like the chop up window interior the report supervisor for dragging and dropping data yet I merely open 2 report managers and there are different chop up window report managers obtainable yet they at the instant are not the default nor might I lead them to so (yet you ought to) in case you have any issues digital mail me. google ubuntu-constrained-extras that assist you to appreciate procedures to place in flash participant, java jre and many formats in one bypass. do not use adobe's internet site while directed to it as that's a large number approximately. In ubuntu:- purposes -> upload-ons -> Terminal type:- sudo apt-get deploy ubuntu-constrained-extras (till you get kubuntu or xubuntu once you replace those words for the be conscious 'ubuntu' ie upload a ok or x) you are able to deploy any application this manner in case you realize its the right option call. miro inkscape abiword scribus gnome-do are sturdy programs you are able to google or learn in synaptic (device - admin - synaptic) this is the place you will locate all indexed application and study descriptions. do not deploy something till you realize what that's.
