You would have to test your CPU to make sure it's compatible. I don't remember the website with the test but dual cores are the most compatible since those are the ones being put into new Macs.

Only if it's a Mac. Apple has designed their OS so that it will only run on their hardware. Each motherboard they make has a special security chip on it. If the OS doesn't find that chip, it won't install or run.
