Anytime i try to boot the windows 7 disc onto my HP Compaq nx6125 Notebook, it saids CDBOOT:Cannot boot from cd. Code 5. I tried different ISO burners like ImgBurn, Magic ISO, Power ISO and others. I have a Nero disc sitting here but I know it is still gonna do the same thing. Can anyone help?

HP Compaq nx6125 Notebook PC
1GB of ram
AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology
2.4GHz

FYI: Windows XP that came preinstalled IS in an endless bootstrap so i thought this could be my chance to install Windows 7.

Do a simple test.

Download SLAX Linux LIVE CD from -->

http://www.slax.org ( The ISO file not the TAR file. It's only 200 MB.)

Download CDBurner XP from

http://cdburnerxp.se/download.php

Burn the ISO image to a DVD not a CD because you want to test the DVD drive for issues reading DVD discs.

Change your BIOS boot order to boot from CD-ROM first and see if you can get the SLAX LINUX to boot up from the CD.

If it works you know you either failed to burn the WIN 7 ISO properly with the software you used or the image file was corrupt.

First of all, I hope you're using a DVD and not a CD because Windows 7 is a 2 GB ISO. Second, did you download this legit or did you torrent it? If you torrented it, it was probably a bad upload and you're out of luck.

sounds like you have written the iso file to the dvd instead of writing from the iso file. Write dvd using iso or diskimage. plus not really enough ram for windows 7

mite not help but i had the same problem with a different program a couple of weeks ago and eventually i got it to work and have made multipul 'back-ups' that all work.

I also tried all the programs you used and failed but eventually 'gburner' worked for me.

It might not work for you but id giv it a try if uv not already.

turn off the pc. once you turn it returned on, take the CD out, turn the pc returned off. Wait 5 minutes. turn the pc returned on, insert the CD, boot from the CD. could artwork.
