You could use VB6 or VS6, but chances are you need VB.NET or VS.NET. I'm not sure why you refuse to update, perhaps you simply do not realize how to. Updating to SP2 is free and is essential if you want to fix hundreds of security flaws in the base Windows installation. Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ in internet explorer. After updating it should also give you the option of turning on automatic updates without me having to explain to you how :)

I run vs05 on the two xp and vista enterprise. Works advantageous on vista (with the vs05 vista provider %.). That reported, MS recommends which you run vs05 on vista as administrator. no person seems to renowned why, as that contravenes their very own protection regulations. yet despite. possibly this is now an city programming legend. yet another element concerning vista in case you're coming up client courses (as unfavorable to cyber web-based). you will could desire to benefit with regard to the 'sacred' directories (like system32, software archives). you are able to no longer in ordinary terms pass around writing to those directories. properly, you are able to in case you turn UAC off, as I even have, yet your purchasers won't have the means to. learn something approximately itemizing (and registry key) virtualization. yet this is sensible to do whether you strengthen on XP... because of the fact a number of your purchasers could have Vista. So we are in a sparkling international; your setting up scripts will exchange. Sigh. besides, for progression, choose for the two, yet there is a few Vista studying to do in the two case.

subone is correct. VB6 doesnt run with new vb.net vb2003 or vb2005. So just update it to sp2

and you can get the free VB2005 express edition for free here
