Everytime I attempt to install the free download of Java Version 6 Update 19 to my PC, the installation fails and I get the following error message...

"Error 1606.Could not access network location
%APPDATA%\."

If anyone has has any advice on what my problem may be and what I need to do to get the installation to work, then please let me know. Thanks.

Just a guess but Go to Start > Run > type this: cmd

That should open the Command Prompt. Then type:

echo %APPDATA%

I bet the path it displays is some drive or "network location" you currently can write a file to.

You may need to change your browser's setting (or are you using the Sun download manager?) to save the download to a different location.

Are you downloading from www.java.com

or if http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp - choose "Download JRE"
