Problems Upgrading 10.4 to Snow Leopard?

I have Mac OSX 10.4.11 on a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook. I just got an iPhone 4 only to discover that I cannot synch it with my computer. To synch I need to have the latest version of iTunes, which my computer tells me is up to date. I then discovered that to get the latest version of iTunes I need a later version of OSX. I tried upgrading using my brothers Snow Leapord Disk, but it gave me an error message that said I need to have 10.5 installed before I can upgrade, which according to the internet should not happen. I have found people with similar problems who have suggested absurd things like removing my Hard-Drive, which I don't want to do. I then tried to use the software disks that came with my brother, and my mother's macs but that failed as well. Everything I have found has been unhelpful, suggesting that I should have no problem upgrading straight to snow leopard. Do I really have to go drop even more money on 10.5 or is there some way of getting one of these 3 disks to work? Please keep your response elementary, I don't understand a lot of the tech jargon. From what I have understand, you cannot use a bundled installation disk that comes together with the device.

Your option is to buy a retail dvd of Snow leopard and install it on your macbook assuming you have Intel-based Macbook and not iBook.



You can check the Mac box set also which includes Mac OSX Snow Leopard, iLife and iWork.

But I should wait for Mac OSX Lion, If i were you.

As an FYI in order to upgrade to Lion, Snow Leopard must be installed.

I'm looking further for information regarding upgrading to10.6. The information was available before the page was updated with Lion upgrade information so now I'm looking for it...again.



Are you booting from the 10.6 to do the upgrade? Also using the disk for another system may be causing the issue and actually would be unless the license is a family license.

seems such as you havent have been given the completed RETAIL replica. you could no longer basically improve tiger to leopard with the aid of way of improve disc you could improve leopard to snow leopard yet no longer tiger to snow. I propose: format stressful tension and get a replica of Lion. its basically £20 / $20
