I would really like to get a photo editing software. I am just a beginner so I would like recommendations on which ones are the best for amateur photographers.
Photoshop Elements or Creative Suite?
Also, after the 30 day free trial is up. Can I uninstall it and download a free trial again?
How does that work?
Can anyone give me a link for downloading free trial for a MAC desktop please?
Thank you!!

Neither, yet.

When you've mastered the best freeware Photo-Editing Apps out there, you can better decide which commercial ($$$), like PhotoShop Elements or PhotoShop Creative Suite, best suit your needs.

FreeWare examples include: PaintDOTnet, and the GIMP, two free Windows apps to get you started. And, InkScape and SeaShore for OS X are free too, as is the GIMP. Google for them.

You can't get a trial for CS3 (or CS4) anymore. CS5 has just been released and is the only free trial available from Adobe. If you see free trials for any of the the older versions, you're taking some big chances.

If you're a beginner and have never done any photo editing, you can start learning the basics with Elements and then move up to Photoshop. The nice thing is that if you already have Elements you can usually get the upgrade pricing for Photoshop. Also, if you're a student (or teacher) you can get academic pricing for Photoshop.

Both Elements and Photoshop both have the same learning curve at the beginning. They are not very intuitive and at the very beginning can be difficult to learn. The nice thing about Elements is that beside Full Edit it has two additional easy editing choices (Quick and Guided) for beginners that Photoshop doesn't have.

When you install it, it will ask you for an activation code. You have the choice to purchase a code online and enter it there, or click "continue trial" or something similar. You don't need to pay anything to use the trial version, but once the 30 days are up the "continue trial" option will no longer be available and the software won't work unless you buy the full version. This is the case with most trialware.

that 30-day-and-then-reinstall does not work with a good reason they want you to buy it

anyway, i would recommend you to download open-source-free-whatever sotware called "gimp". i think it's available for mac too

google will help you
