Once in a while, a lot lately, I keep getting the dead blue screen on vista business edition, I did all the upgrades known, but sometimes it comes up. Any ideas? I have a Compaq CQ50-115NR 3GB memory. 200 GB Hard disk, Processor is Turion X2. Graphics card is Nvidia GeForce 8200M G. Thank you
PS: The Software I have are: Visual Studion 2008, Eclipse, Java JDK, MinGW, LC3 editor, Virtual box, that is about it.

That would be the infamous Vista BSoD or Blue Screen of Death - how to get round it?

Either move up to XP Pro or move over to Mac which also runs Windows for the MS only stuff that you are running.

Blue screen treatment, you can refer to

1 restart

2 new hardware detection of new services

3 Trojan virus detected

4 checks BIOS and hardware compatibility

5 run "sfc / scannow" system to check whether documents have been replaced, and then use the installation disk to restore the system

6 upgrade SP2 or SP3

7 motherboard refresh virus infection

8 BSOD were damaged, need to be replaced

A clean install will fix any software errors but will do nothing for hardware errors. A couple of the errors listed have to do with RAM - you may have a bad stick. Try doing a memory test (mem+ works well and is free).

Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info
