Question:
Can ISO image files be converted to video files (mpeg, avi, etc)?

I have a Roxio program to burn ISO files to DVD and play them on my computer, but I would like to burn them into a format with more flexibility, i.e into something I can play on most dvd players.

I've googled the subject, but didn't see anything I wanted to take a chance on due to potential viruses or whatever.

Can you please advise?
Thanks.

so i will assume your iso image contains movie data? if so your in luck because you can mount the iso image to a program called daemon tools. it will create a virtual cd rom drive, or dvd rom, amd whatever is on the iso will act like whatever it is supposed to be. so from there you can either just copy the data from the mounted iso, or if thats is not possible just rip to to a dvd movie ripping program. if there is some kind of copyright, just make sure you are going to use it for legal purposes and download dvd 43, it bypasses the copyright. hope that helps, i dont know the specifics i need to know to answer you properly.

An ISO file is really just raw data, so if you're talking about a movie you copied from a DVD or something like that then then yes. I'm pretty sure HandBrake can rip a movie from an ISO file, so give that a try first. If that doesn't work just download Daemon Tools and mount the ISO to a virtual CD/DVD drive, then rip it from there.

An ISO image is nothing but an archive. If you download a copy of winrar, you can open an ISO archive with it. When you use roxio make sure you tell it to save the image to the hard drive as an ISO. There is really no need to burn a disk at all.

ISO files are NOT a VIDEO format, nor will they ever be. That format is used to install programs onto a computer, NOT to view video files...
