I have installed Quicktime 7 Pro and I want to uninstall it in order to install iTunes 8 on my Windows XP laptop.

iTunes doesn't install as long as I don't uninstall Quicktime 7. When I tried to uninstall it. This 1402 error occurred saying

"Could not open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/slasses/QuickTime.QuickTime/CLSID. Verify you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personal"

I pressed OK (the only button there)

Then came up the 1603. "Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information."

I clicked ok once again and that was the only button.

THE WIZARD WAS INTERRUPTED BEFORE QUICKTIME COULD NOT BE COMPLETELY INSTALLED!

Help!???

sounds like you are not on admin account or whatever.. hkey is a registry entry. thats apple/mac crap products for you, always trying to make it look like a microsoft issue.

I would use the microsoft installer cleanup utility, and remove it manually that way. If that doesnt work, trying booting into safe more and taking it out.

You can also try to install it again over the previous version. Upgrade it to a newer version if that doesnt work.

Find another uninstaller utility.

Or delete all the files, run a registry cleaner, and then an uninstaller utility.

I would go onto the quicktime pro website and look up the error code there.

Never had that happen before... Maybe look up those codes and try to figure out what is causing it to do that?
