The easiest way would be to create a shortcut to your document and place the shortcut in the Startup folder within your Start Menu. However the Access Denied error message may be caused for a few reasons as you are likely to be using a somewhat restricted Windows user profile.

It may be best to contact your IT support as they would have a clear picture on what access you do and do not have, as well as policies on whether this request is allowed. However I will offer you some solutions to hopefully assist you.

One reason for getting this error is that you were attempting to copy a somewhat restricted document.

You should first attempt to create a shortcut to the document then paste it into the Startup folder. Depending on your restrictions there are a few ways you can attempt this.

Option A

1. Right click on the document and click Create Shortcut.

2. Should this have been successful it will have created a shortcut in the same folder as the original document. Right click on the shortcut and then click Copy.

3. Click Start and then Programs (or All Programs).

4. Right click on the Startup folder and then click Paste.

Option B

1. Right click on the document, select Sent To and then click “Desktop (create shortcut)”.

2. Should this have been successful it will have created a shortcut on your Desktop. Right click on the shortcut and then click Copy.

3. Click Start and then Programs (or All Programs).

4. Right click on the Startup folder and then click Paste.

Option C

1. Holding the Alt key down, click on the original document and begin to drag the icon (holding down the right mouse key) to the into the Startup folder within the Start Menu.

When holding the Alt key you should notice a little arrow pointing to the top right appears on the icon as you are dragging it, this indicates it will create a shortcut.

2. When dragging the icon to the Startup folder (while still holding Alt) you will need to pause over the Start button for a second or two before it will open.

3. You will need to repeat this process of hovering over Programs (or All Programs) then the Startup folder until they open.

4. Once the icon appears to be selected *within* the Startup folder release the right mouse key and then release the Alt key.

Should one of these options worked successfully next time you log into your user account the document will launch automatically!

If you are still getting an Access Denied error it is likely you are restricted from copying anything to the Startup folder. IT support would need to assist you in this situation. Depending on your IT policies you may be able to request administration rights be granted to your Windows profile in order to have access to the Startup folder. Alternatively your IT support may even be able to set this document up to launch on log-in for you.

If IT grant your Windows user profile administration rights to access the Startup folder you will first need to log off and back into Windows. You then should be able to use one of the options listed above in order to copy the shortcut to the Startup folder.

There are other ways to set up the document to launch on log-in, such as editing the registry. Unfortunately if your restrictions do not allow you to go through the above solutions it is highly unlikely you would be have access to any thing further. Your IT support will need to assist you from here.

Hope this helps! Or your IT Support were able to help!

You just choose save system>Prefrences>session and it will reload all you currently running applications when you boot up next time

You can copy the Excel file (or a shortcut to it) into your StartMenu -> Programs -> Startup

folder.
