How do I make a powerpoint 2011 file readonly? Ive found multiple sets of instructions online but for previous versions of powerpoint. Id like to know how to make a powerpoint 2011 document uneditable, or if possible, to restrict the user from even seeing the project file. Only let the user see the presentation. Thank you.

I think this can only be done by assigning a password to modify unlike previously. Certainly in Word when you "save as" under General Options it gives you the ability to tick a box for read only, but this is not apparent in Powerpoint.

Saving as a PowerPoint show does not make your presentation read-only or protect it so that it can't be edited. Don't follow that advice.

You should password protect and encrypt your presentation. Before you can do it, you must install Service Pack 1. To make sure PowerPoint is up to date, use the Help menu and Check for Updates while your computer has a live internet connection.

You can encrypt and password protect your presentation by following these steps from PowerPoint help.

How ya going!

I THINK I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR!!

Basically, you'll have to try and save the file/ presentation as a POWER POINT SHOW.

You can do this when you save the file.

1). Save As,

2). Give the presentation a name and under format, choose - Powerpoint Show (PPTS) or something similar...

HOPE THIS HELPS...
