Lately I had got a windows system error 0xc00000e9 from a dell windows 7 laptop with a dual boot alongside Linux. When ever I try to use the windows 7 recovery disk and I click install windows 7 it freezes while it is in the middle of preparing, the same thing happens when I click repair computer. If you have tips that might work they are needed? Also is there a way to transfer files from a linux OS to another computer that runs windows 7? (Flash drives and disks are to small for the big files I need to transfer to another computer I have so I can replace the hard drive.)

have you tried pressing the F8 key repeatedly on startup, then selecting 'last known configuration that worked' ?

you could also try uploading the files to

www.mega.co.nz

you get 50GB free space, i use it for backups, you will most likely be uploading for a few weeks if you have 50GB to upload,

For transferring files between Linux and Windows, you can either use FTP to transfer the files (FTP is on both windows and Linux), or you can set up Samba on Linux to make it look like an NTFS share and then access the file share from Windows.

With regard to your boot problem, when winduhs gets hosed up like that, sounds like you need to back up your personal files and reinstall winduhs.

Linux typically has ssh client but not ssh server. Depending upon which Linux distro you have, if you install ssh, it would usually make sure you have both client and server.

Install PuTTY in Windows, then use psftp in Windows connect to Linux and transfer files.

I can ssh, scp, or sftp either way between my Android phone and Linux using ConnectBot, AndFTP, and SSH Server apps.

on laptop with hosed win7:

- boot into linux

- install, if it's not already, ssh

- mount the win7 partition

- start sshd

on the good win7:

- connect to the same lan/switch as the hosed win7 is

- connect to the linux laptop using filezilla or winscp

- drag and drop files over

You are so mistaken my pal. Xp: you can do the whole thing with it nevertheless it does not have pace and things are fairly gradual. Vista: may be very speedy. Mac: Has some good aspects and may be very useful if you are a designer. I worked with all of them and i've all three on my pc. It works very fast, i've a first-class from the xp and some cool objects from Mac. You could say that Mac has very simple programs and has a bunch of cool items.
