Should I downgrade back to Windows Vista or stick with Windows 7?
I have a laptop that has originally been installed with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit stock and has been upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. It has been like this for about 2 years or so now. Also whenever I play PC games such as World of War Craft, League of Legends, DotA, or even Counter-strike I would get lag spikes and crashes. The gaming performance is horrible. Therefore, I was thinking maybe I should downgrade back to Windows Vista, since 1 ram is used up already to install Windows 7. My original thought was that Windows 7 would be better for gaming.

Hp Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6700 or dv6748us
Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1
AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60
3.0 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7150M/ nForce 630M

With these specs what should I do for my laptop for the best gaming performance?

So should I downgrade back to Windows Vista or stick with Windows 7?

Also would Ultimate be better for gaming rather than Home Premium for both Vista and 7?

There's a lot that can be done to improve performance if you are technical and willing to put in the time.

1) Turn off all the fancy graphics, moving wallpapers, etc. Make it look like XP.

2) In 'Administrative Tools' you'll find the task scheduler and system configuration. Disable all scheduled tasks (scheduler) and start-up items and services (sys. config) that you don't need. It's rather amazing how much is going on that is really unnecessary. I'm not going to try and detail it here, but there are plenty of websites that will help you determine what you don't need.

Well its blatantly obviously you have a pirated/cracked version of windows 7 >.>

that could be your problem, as you can never truly trust those.

Also your lag could be due to your ANCIENT low end hardware lol... you are using integrated graphics that are really old...

Windows 7 is better then vista in every way, so you will game better on 7 then vista (well if you had a legit win7).

You may want to get 4GB of ram (2x2GB) so that you are running your ram in dual channel, thus doubling memory bandwidth. Which memory bandwidth does help with integrated graphic performance, so it maybe give you a few more fps.

Which that will require a 64bit OS ofcourse.

But really, you should just buy a new computer if you want to play games...

sure, all you should ought to do is administered the setup for domicile windows Vista, that is going to do some thing else. right that is an editorial I examine: Microsoft is confirming that shoppers ought to have the downgrade rights to position in both domicile windows Vista or domicile windows XP in the experience that they are using the destiny domicile windows 7. The confirmation got here instantly from a Microsoft representative at the same time as requested about the downgrade rights linked with domicile windows 7. it truly is excellent seeing that Microsoft frequently in common words enables downgrade rights to in common words one version decrease back. yet because distinctive agencies nonetheless choose domicile windows XP because of application compatibility subject matters, and also hardware subject matters, 2 variations decrease back will be lined for the first time.

Do know that you can install Virtual RAM and run your games on it?

A little digging about - here's a thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2161009

Take a look at the benchmarks here: http://fiehnlab.ucdavis.edu/staff/kind/Collector/Benchmark/RamDisk/

You'll notice an incredible read/ write speed difference.

Actually the one on my machine is only about 35 times faster than my HD.

How you install it, format it and choose whether to save each session is the key. You can either direct your user temp and system temp files onto RAMDisk or even install the game on it.

If you want more Gb's you have to pay for it.

Installation is easy to screw up. Make sure you've got a backup to restore from before going ahead (if you want to try it). It's easy to make configuration mistakes.

This is not for the novice user.

You can get up to 4GB for free. If you want more you have t

Hey nohbdy

I have a worse setup than yours and running games with windows 7 without any problem. There must be some other isue with your gaming performance...maybe malware or something. I would do a format and start clean and if problem persists i would check for hardware conflicts

My thoughts if your into gaming you probably have to have a legal version of Windows if you do not have already. Some of the Cracked copies have a Time bomb so they eventually will grind to a halt.

There is nothing illegal by me saying uninstall update KB971033 I have heard it impedes performance somewhat.
