I sent a .wps to my own email so that I could print it at school. Went I opened it at school, it asks me to do a file conversion, and there is a window full of odd symbols. I have a newer version of Word than the school computers. How can I convert the file properly?

Technically, the .wps extension tells computers that it is a Microsoft WORKS document (works comes free with many computers, but you usually pay for Word)

The ".doc" extension is the standard for Word. Word can however, save a document in a number of formats, including .wps and .rtf.

From here, there are a lot of variables as to what exactly went wrong. There are a lot of versions of Works out there (6.0, 7.0, 8.0...) and a lot of version of word

First check to make sure the font didn't change to something like symbols.

Secondly, when you open and convert, change it to the one that has word 2000/2002 (its probably the longest selection on drop box)

word Processor has much less good factors, circulate to the microsoft internet site to confirm in case you need to purchase workplace word seperately in spite of the shown fact that it may be greater effective to get a kit the place you get the different workplace classes as nicely
